How to Install FilmTV APK on Android (Step-by-Step Guide 2026)
Installing FilmTV APK takes under two minutes from download to first stream. Because it's not on the Google Play Store, you need to follow a few extra steps to allow your Android device to install it. This guide covers every step in detail, plus solutions to the most common problems people run into.
What you need before you start
Any Android device running Android 7.0 (Nougat) or higher will work. That covers nearly every phone and tablet released since 2016. You'll also need about 100 MB of free storage for the APK plus the app's initial data, and a working internet connection. No root, no PC, and no special tools are required.
Step 1 — Download the APK file
Tap the download button on our Download page. Your browser will ask whether to save the file — confirm and the 56.3 MB download will begin. On a typical 4G or Wi-Fi connection this takes 10–30 seconds. The file will appear in your device's Downloads folder as FilmTV-v4.0.0.apk.
Important: only download from FilmTVAPK.in. Third-party mirrors often bundle adware or ship outdated builds. Our file is verified against the original SHA-256 hash before every publish.
Step 2 — Enable 'Install unknown apps'
By default, Android blocks installation of apps from outside the Play Store. You need to grant permission for your browser (or file manager) to install APKs. The steps vary slightly by Android version:
Android 8.0 and above: Go to Settings → Apps → Special app access → Install unknown apps. Find the app you used to download the file (usually Chrome, Firefox, or your default browser) and toggle 'Allow from this source' on.
Android 7.x: Go to Settings → Security and scroll down to 'Unknown sources'. Toggle it on. Android will show a warning — read it and tap OK. You can turn this back off after installing FilmTV.
Step 3 — Open the APK file
Open your notifications panel and tap the completed download, or open your Downloads folder and tap FilmTV-v4.0.0.apk. Android will display a package installer screen showing the app name, version, and the permissions it requests (just storage and network access in the modded build).
Step 4 — Tap Install
Tap the Install button in the bottom-right corner. Installation typically completes in 5–10 seconds. You may see a 'Scanning…' message from Google Play Protect — this is normal. Play Protect will flag the app as unverified (since it's not from the Play Store), but you can tap 'Install anyway' to proceed. FilmTV contains no malware.
Step 5 — Launch and start streaming
Tap Open on the success screen, or find the FilmTV icon on your home screen. The app opens directly to the home feed — no login, no registration, no subscription. Browse by platform, search for a specific title, or check the Trending section. Tap any title to start watching.
Installing on Android TV or Fire TV Stick
Android TV and Fire TV Stick support sideloading but require a slightly different approach. Install the 'Downloader' app from the official app store on your TV device. Open Downloader, enter the URL of the APK, download it, and follow the same 'Install unknown apps' permission step. The app works well on TV with a remote — the UI scales correctly and the player supports standard remote controls for play/pause and seek.
Troubleshooting — Installation failed
If Android shows 'App not installed' or 'Installation failed', the most common cause is an existing older version of Cinema or FilmTV that conflicts with the new package. Uninstall the old app first (Settings → Apps → Cinema or FilmTV → Uninstall), then re-run the installer. Your watchlist stored in the old app will not carry over, but you can rebuild it quickly.
Troubleshooting — App crashes on launch
If the app crashes immediately after opening, try clearing the app cache (Settings → Apps → FilmTV → Storage → Clear cache) and relaunching. If that doesn't help, your device may have an older WebView version. Go to the Play Store, search 'Android System WebView', and update it. This fixes launch crashes on most devices.
Troubleshooting — Video won't play
If tapping a title shows a spinning buffer that never resolves, first check your internet connection. If your connection is fine, try switching the player in FilmTV's settings (Settings → Player → External player) and use MX Player or VLC instead. Some ISPs block certain streaming sources — a free VPN can resolve this in most cases.
Keeping FilmTV updated
FilmTV does not auto-update since it's not on the Play Store. Bookmark FilmTVAPK.in and check back whenever you want to know if a new version is out. We publish release notes with every update so you know exactly what changed before you install.
